Intersolar Africa 2026: What Matters for SIAZ Members

SHARE

SIAZ participated in Intersolar Africa in Nairobi alongside Renewable Energy Industries Association of Malawi and German Solar Association Partnership Project in Malawi and Zambia with a clear focus:

Understanding current developments in the solar market and assessing their practical implications for members in Zambia.

Intersolar as a Market Platform.

Intersolar is first and foremost a market and exchange platform. Discussions during the event focused on key issues shaping the sector:

  • Expectations of international partners and investors regarding project pipelines in Zambia
  • Lessons learned from other African markets, including Rwanda and Kenya
  • Emerging business areas such as e-waste management, battery repurposing and circular economy solutions

These themes are increasingly relevant as Zambia’s solar market continues to mature and diversify.

From Project Pipelines to Implementation

In a well-attended panel discussion with partners from Malawi and Rwanda, participants examined what realistically turns project pipelines into implemented projects. The conversation highlighted the importance of realistic positioning, investor readiness and strategic focus in today’s market environment

Strengthening International Linkages

A key takeaway for SIAZ is the importance of strong international linkages. Through the Global Solar Council, a key partner of Intersolar, SIAZ gains access to global market intelligence, trends and relevant stakeholders that are increasingly important for the Zambian solar sector.

In addition to panel discussions, SIAZ held targeted meetings with companies and initiatives already implementing practical solutions in e-waste management and advanced battery systems. These areas present potential new business opportunities for Zambian companies and align with broader sustainability and circular economy goals.

Translating Insights into Member Value

SIAZ uses international platforms such as Intersolar Africa to identify market developments at an early stage, build relevant networks, and translate these insights into practical value for its members through information sharing, exchange formats and the development of future service offerings.
